Mohs Surgery

Mohs surgery is a highly effective technique for the removal of skin cancer whereby progressive ‘layers’ of skin cancer are removed and analyzed under microscope until the entire cancer is eliminated. Our care team performs multiple Mohs procedures each week with almost all wound closures done on-site. Dr. Erin Ducharme has completed hundreds of Mohs procedures in her career and is currently on the board of directors of the American Society of Mohs Surgery (ASMS).

Patients are required to schedule an office visit prior to surgery to ensure an accurate diagnosis of their skin condition and that they are a Mohs candidate.

Excisions of cancers & cysts

Every week, Dr. Ducharme and her nurse team perform numerous excisions of benign and malignant growths and spots. Patients should expect to first come in for an office visit so that the doctor can identify the nature of the abnormality. After the initial visit, patients will be scheduled to come back to the clinic for the excision procedure. Removed tissue will be analyzed to check for malignancy.

Patients with questions about what to expect for their Mohs procedure or excision should call our nurse team at (515) 987-0333.
