SkinPen® is the first microneedling device to be approved by the FDA to treat the face and body. In convenient, safe 30 minute sessions, our licensed aestheticians will target the desired treatment area with the SkinPen® as three million micro channels, or tiny holes, are created. The body’s natural immune response and wound healing processes will take over. These processes disinfect, remove debris, and increase blood flow. New granulation cells including collagen and elastin are generated and new, rich dermal tissue forms.

The results from this procedure and the processes that follow are a more youthful, firmer skin appearance, decrease in acne scarring, smoothing of fine lines and neck wrinkles, and a more even tone and texture. Collagen and elastin are protein fibers that give support and elasticity to your skin. As we age these fibers begin to break down and allow visual damage and wrinkles to appear. Collagen also helps prevent and decrease noticeable scarring, which is why SkinPen® is an effective treatment option for acne scars.

There is typically only mild redness and irritation following the procedure and no downtime required afterwards which means this is a convenient treatment to fit into your week! To ensure maximum comfort, your aesthetician will apply an anesthetic (numbing) cream to the targeted area prior to treatment. The SkinPen® treatments themselves are chemical and heat free making them a more natural and gentle option for many patients. If you are looking to maximize your results, your provider can put together a highly individualized line of products to use in combination with your microneedling treatments.

SkinPen® may not be an option for people who have active skin cancer in the treatment area, open wounds or irritated skin, an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics, bleeding disorders, are pregnant or nursing, or are currently on any drugs containing isotretinoin, such as Accutane. 

You may see noticeable results after only one treatment, but for the best outcomes we recommend continuing treatments for three to six months. Results have been graded on the G. Lemperle Wrinkle Assessment Scale, the Clinicians Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (CGAIS), and the Subject Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS). Data shows that 94% of patients in a study conducted using SkinPen® saw noticeable improvements in neck lines and wrinkles after just one month, and 90% of patients in an alternate study conducted to examine the effects on acne scaring said they WOULD recommend SkinPen® to friends and family.
