Introducing SkinPen® at Ducharme Dermatology, PC!

SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device approved to treat the face and body.

Procedures are safe, quick and no-downtime 30-minute sessions that can help improve acne scars, wrinkles and overall tone and texture. While results can often be visible after 1 session, we typically recommend a series of treatments for optimal outcomes.

The treatment works by creating 3 million micro channels per 30-minute session. The body’s natural natural wound healing process takes over from there, remodeling the tissue which results in new collagen and elastin, giving your skin a younger, firmer and radiant appearance.

WHY DO COLLAGEN & ELASTIN MATTER?

SkinPen works by creating millions of microchannels in the skin, stimulating the body to regenerate collagen and elastin.

Collagen and elastin are the essential protein fibers in the skin that give it support and elasticity. As we age, these fibers break down and can cause wrinkles. Regenerating the collagen and elastin in the skin can help to give you a more youthful appearance overall. Collagen also plays a key role in scarring, such as those resulting from acne. Skin remodeling can have an important role in the improved appearance of this condition.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each SkinPen treatment session lasts around 30 minutes. We typically recommend series of at least 3 treatments for optimal results.

Prior to each treatment, our aesthetician will apply a light numbing cream to the treatment area to assure maximum comfort. Once the anesthetic has been given time to start working, our aesthetician will begin treating the target area with the SkinPen. The treatment may take up to 30 minutes. Following the treatment your skin may appear slightly pink to red, similar to a mild sunburn. Results may appear after just one treatment, but will continue to improve three to six months following your last treatment.
